There are approximately 80 snake species in Odisha, including the highly venomous sea snake. Several snakes that are frequently found in Odisha have been introduced. All Snakes are mainly divided in three types.
There aren't many snakes that can bite and produce modest local harm. Typically, they are referred to as mildly venomous snakes. Despite being rear-fanged snakes, they lack venom glands. In fact, they have Duvernoy's gland, and their venom is administered through teeth with grooves. The venom of India's mildly venomous snakes is less poisonous and does not kill. People shouldn't worry too much because we have seen very little to no effects from mildly venomous snakebite in Odisha.
There is no venom apparatus on these snakes. They are not dangerous snakes. There are no other snakes that can injure people besides the two pythons that are found in Odisha. The microorganisms found in non-venomous snakes' mouths, however, have the potential to infect the bite site.
Specialized venom apparatus, including as a venom gland to manufacture and store venom, fangs to inject, compressor muscles to apply pressure, and other complex systems, are used by venomous snakes to inject their prey. Venomous snakes in India typically have front fangs. Complex mixes of different-sized proteins, enzymes, and other substances make up snake venom. The human body may experience severe systemic consequences from snake venom, as well as mild local effects. Depending on the snake's species, the extent of the bite, and other factors, death may happen in a matter of minutes to many hours.
